Course program
The Art Clay Level 2 Certification Course is taught by an experienced Senior Art Silver Clay instructor, following the curriculum developed in Japan by the DAC Creative Studios of Aida Chemical Industries. Holders of the Level 2 Certificate are qualified to teach Art Clay Introductory, Level 1 and Level 2 classes with the support of Art Clay World UK and entitled to purchase Art Clay products at discount.
This is an intensive course over four days in which students build on the Level 1 course and learn advanced techniques including hand-shaping rings, carving, mirror-finish polishing, traditional bezel setting, incorporating findings into a piece, patination, gold foil application, glass fusing, hand-texturing, brooch making and setting multiple facetted stones.
There are six projects covered on this course, and each must be completed to the required standard. If any piece fails to achieve the required standard during the course , the piece(s) can be remade for resubmission within 30 days. After completing the course projects successfully, three additional pieces must be made, meeting specific criteria, and submitted to the Art Clay World UK Guild for assessment. The Certificate is awarded when these additional pieces have passed appraisal.
The price includes a small toolkit to add to the Level 1 toolkit, which you will keep, and all necessary materials including Art Clay Silver in various forms; synthetic and natural stones, glass and pure silver findings. In addition, there is a set of course notes for students to keep.
