Course program

European Studies explores the key areas of contemporary European history, politics, economics and international relations, and combines these with the study of foreign languages.

This course is strongly informed by the outstanding research and teaching in the Department of Politics and International Relations, the School of Modern Languages and other participating departments. This includes research into areas such as the European Union and the European Parliament, security, international diplomacy, the use of military force, as well as European languages and cultures.

In addition to studying European history and integration, you will advance your French language skills and cultural understanding, including by spending the third year of the course in France, Belgium or Switzerland, either at a university or on a work placement.
