Course program
Introduction
This training will help you develop the skills needed for a successful career in the Care Sector - whether or not you're already working in the care industry.
You'll gain an understanding of the various skills needed to be effective in a nursing or residential home position, and learn about the GSCC Code of Practice for Social Care Workers and the responsibilities of the care worker.
You will cover a wide range of areas such as about care work, mental health, moving and handling people, safeguarding of vulnerable adult, first aid, risk assessment and security in the workplace, effective communication and food hygiene.
About Care Work
You will learn about:
• the range of care needs of major client groups
• the types of services that exist to meet client group needs and how they are organized.
• the ways people can obtain care services and the barriers that can prevent people from gaining access to services.
• the main work roles and skills of people who provide health, social care and early years services
• the values that underpin all care work with clients.
You will understand more about the work of health, social care and early years service providers by:
• understanding how services are developed in response to social policy goals and to meet the needs of individuals
• knowing about the different services and job roles
