Techniques covered range from gentle stretches to firm massage and a variety of neck mobilisations. We’ll also look at relevant exercises to offer the client for self-maintenance.

The day begins with a review of the main muscles of this area. We’ll work with the client in a supine position, which enables us to work on most of the neck muscles and to do a large range of mobilising techniques.
The workshop looks at the choice of appropriate techniques for each client. There is an emphasis on good bodyuse for the practitioner, and ‘listening’ with your hands (monitoring and adapting to the client’s responses).

To attend this workshop you must have a recognised massage qualification. 5 CPD points

Tension and discomfort in the shoulders is extremely common and this accredited, advanced massage level 3 course equips you with skills to be a far more effective massage therapist. This workshop is designed to enhance the massage practitioner’s repertoire of techniques and effectiveness for working extensively on a client’s shoulders - a common area of stiffness and soreness. It covers specific deep massage and pressure techniques for release and re-energising of the muscles. These are allied with passive movements and dynamic stretches to promote greater ease and flexibility.

The day begins with a review of the main muscles of this area, looking at them in their functional groups to help make sense of them. Then we’ll work with the client in a prone position, which enables us to get at a large number of the muscles that relate to the shoulder girdle and the arm. The workshop looks at the choice of appropriate techniques, ways of moderating the pressure, how to blend them smoothly into a massage session, and relevant exercises to offer the client for self-maintenance. There is an emphasis on good bodyuse for the practitioner, and ’listening’ with your hands (monitoring and adapting to the client’s responses).

An extremely portable treatment using light weight, beautifully crafted bamboo - a very versatile massage tool that allows you to introduce warmth to the muscles with much less effort than using your hands alone - without compromising effectiveness. To perform a Warm Bamboo Massage the therapist uses bamboo sticks of varying sizes (we heat ours in a Vulsini bamboo heating bag). Students of the course will be given the ’theory of warm bamboo massage’ pre-reading material to complete before the course date. Stretches and mobilising techniques can be very useful in massage sessions for relaxing the client, releasing particular muscle tensions, mobilising the joints, and expanding the client’s flexibility.

They also provide the massage practitioner with an effective alternative to having to constantly apply pressure in massage treatments.

This 1 day workshop covers a range of stretches and mobilising techniques that can easily be incorporated into massage sessions. It looks at how to modify and adapt them to suit the individual client and the ‘flavour’ of the treatment session - e.g. gentle stretches for the frail, stronger stretches/ mobilisations in firmer treatments. It also offers guidelines and practice in creating further techniques on your own.

To attend this workshop you should hold a recognised massage qualification, also open to osteopaths, Chiropractors etc.
