Course program

Course Outline:
This in-depth course has been written specifically for care settings in relation to the Dignity Challenge and
covers all aspects associated with the 10 challenges extensively. The course includes group work
covering abuse, mental health legislation, standards and benchmarks, case studies and information
protecting vulnerable people.

The three main topics covered are:
• What is the Dignity Challenge?
• Care Practice (Factors that threaten dignity)
• Factors affecting dignity

Course Objectives:
To complete the modules learners will do the following:
Module 1: What is the Dignity Challenge?
In this session learners will gain an understanding of the Dignity Challenge. By the end of the session they
will have identified factors that can get in the way of dignity in care. They will also have identified ways of
ensuring that each of the challenges are tested in a care setting.

Module 2: Care Practice (Factors that Threaten Dignity)
This session looks at care practices that threaten dignity. By the end of the session learners will have an
understanding of these care practices and improvements that can be made. They will demonstrate their
understanding in an end of session assessment and a series of learning activities.
