Course program
If you want help gaining the DipFA® qualifications before the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) comes into force at the end of 2012; then you’ve come to the right place.
Futuretrend is one of UK’s leading Financial Advisor Training Centres and our supportive and dynamic environment will make your exam preparation easy and enjoyable. Our comprehensive DipFA® training programme provides you with the study support and discipline required for first time exam success. Our tutors are fully DipFA® qualified and are also official web tutors for the awarding body: The ifs School of Finance. They use the best resources and incorporate multiple learning styles and study methods to help you understand the DipFA® requirements and exam process.
DipFA® Structure:
• Unit 1 - Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics (FSRE)
• Unit 2 - Coursework Assignments Stage 1 / Advanced Financial Advice (AFA) Stage 2
The AFA section of the DipFA® comes in 2 parts: the course work and the final exam based on a Factfind. This section must be completed within the time frame, they cannot be separated. Please ensure that once you commit yourself, that you can afford to allocate 360 hours of study time (approx 10 hours per week) over the 6 months.
The Course Work Assignments Stage 2:
• Case Study Elements.
• Approx 4 months completion duration.
• 50% Pass Mark.
• Scores in Coursework Assignment.
• Accounts for 30% of the Advanced Financial Advice (AFA) Exam final grades.
• Part 1 - Three short answer questions (marks 10, 10 & 5).
• Part 2a – Written task – Maximum word count 4,000 (marks 60).
• Part 2b – Bibliography (does not form part of the word count, comment on three sources, marks 15).
The coursework workshop is split into 5 days, each day focussing on the different financial planning areas needed for advising. It is essential that students have already passed a level 3 qualification (i.e. CeFA® 1-3) as the course content only provides information that is not already covered in CeFA®. Each day covers the following:
• Day 1: Taxation: covers all the taxes that you need to know to provide adequate advice, with tax planning strategies.
• Day 2: Investments: covers technical product knowledge and how to use them.
• Day 3: Pensions: up to date pension information, enabling you to formulate the right strategies for your factfind and/or coursework.
• Day 4: Protection: covers the different types of policies and estate planning.
• Day 5: Coursework work shop. This will cover:
- How to get started.
- How to structure your article.
- Who is your target group.
- Exemplars are provided.
- How to submit your work.
- How to source information.
- How to gain valuable marks.
- Tips and ideas on coursework content.
- How to reference your article.
- How to build your bibliography.
- The short questions are assessed thoroughly, giving pointers on where to find the information.
2 Day Revision course: Whilst it is recommended that you take the whole 5 day course the 2 day revision option is available for those who have read the material thoroughly and need minimal extra support. It will therefore comprise of (1 day technical content over view + tax issues (condensed version of days 1 to 4), 2nd day coursework structure + suggestions (Day 5 features).
