| Prepares for: | Professional Significance of the Programme: National (Indian) Students: After completion of the course, one can Register his / her name as a Alternative Medical Practitioner from I.B.A.M. under Rule 7A and start practice. International Students: i. After completion of the course, one can can apply for attestation of their certificate / diploma completed with IBAM with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the Foreign Ministry / Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for using them internationally. ii. The American Association of Drugless Practitioners Certification & Accreditation Board, U.S.A. has granted The Indian Board of Alternative Medicines full board professional accreditation and certification. Graduates of the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines will be eligible to apply to be board certified holistic health practitioners through the AADP. iii. The Indian Board of Alternative Medicines has formed an affiliation with the Australian Committee of Natural Therapies, Australia and New Zealand. Graduates of the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines will be eligible to apply for membership with the association as 'Practitioner'. In addition students graduating with an ingestible modality can apply as ‘Schedule 1 Practitioner’ enabling them to receive a TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) certificate to obtain practitioner only products for their clients. |
| Requirements: | Eligibility / Pre-Requisite: Those persons who have passed any degree course from an authentic institution. OR Those persons who have completed the M.B.B.S., D.M.S., D.H.M.S., B.H.M.S., B.A.M.S., B.A.S.M., B.E.M.S., B.I.A.M.S., B.N.Y.T., B.A.T.S., B.U.M.S., N.D., N.O., M.D(A.M) etc. *Practitioners/Research Workers who are practicing for the last 10 years. Minimum basic qualification is exempted. |

Course program
Doctor of Philosophy in Alternative Medicine, Ph.D. (A.M.) conducted by the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine is a research based distance learning program which encourages the participant to carry forward his insight into new areas of successful treatment in disorders and diseases of human beings.
Requirement for the Award: Students of this programme are required to submit an original & authentic research work (thesis) of at least 300 pages (on A4 paper) on any subject related to alternative medicine. When complete, the thesis should be submitted for evaluation following which the Ph.D. (A.M.) is awarded to the successful students.
Thesis / Dissertation Preparation: Research guidelines on the topic chosen for thesis preparation are sent by air mail.
National (Indian) students - Tentative duration within which Indian students can expect to receive their research guidelines is 2 weeks.
International students - Tentative duration within which International students can expect to receive their research guidelines is 3 weeks.
Medium of instruction: English.

Indian Board of Alternative Medicines (Internationally Recognized Legally Constituted Largest Institution) is an internationally acclaimed pioneer Institution of Alternative, Complementary and Holistic Medicines with more than 80,000 students from all over the world. Registered by the Government of West Bengal under Act XXVI based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860.
