Course program
This course follows the content prescribed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for providers of emergency first aid at work.
Where your first aid risk assessment shows that your workplace represents a relatively low level of risk you may need to provide emergency first aid at work first aiders. To help you to decide whether you need first aiders at to which level they should be trained visit the HSE website and use their first aid at work assessment tool.
We will enable you emergency first aiders to:
■understand the role of the firstaider including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection; the need for recording incidents and actions; the RIDDOR accident record book and first aid records; use of available equipment;
■ assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency without becoming a casualty themselves;
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including as a result of seizures);
■ administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
■ provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
Our First Aid teachers have years of experience in the practical application of first aid in a variety of environments. Their knowledge and enthusiasm will help your first aiders to be the best that they can be.
