Course program
This course follows the content prescribed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for providers of first aid in the workplace.
Where your first aid risk assessment shows that your workplace represents a risk of injuring people you may need to provide first aid at work first aiders. To help you to decide whether you need first aiders at to which level they should be trained visit the HSE website and use their first aid at work assessment tool.
Our expert teachers are skilled at instilling confidence in our learners so that your first aiders can apply this confidence along with their newly aquired knowledge to help make your workplace a safer one.
Your first aiders will be able to:
■understand the role of the firstaider including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection; the need for recording incidents and actions; the RIDDOR accident record book and first aid records; use of available equipment;
■ assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency without becoming a casualty themselves;
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including as a result of seizures);
■ administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
■ administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
■ provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
■ administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries; chest injuries; burns and scalds; eye injuries; sudden poisoning; anaphylactic shock;
■ recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
Our First Aid teachers have years of experience in the practical application of first aid in a variety of environments. Their knowledge and enthusiasm will help your first aiders to be the best that they can be.
