Course Outline:
The aim of this course is to ensure senior staff are able to monitor the safe and competent performance of Insulin administration to adults in the community setting with “stable” diabetes. This course covers:
• Healthy diet overview
• Diabetes overview
• Law, guidance and local policies
• Appropriate sugar testing
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course, learners will be able to:
• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of related anatomy and physiology
• Demonstrate an understanding of the condition and treatment of a patient on insulin
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety, and infection control procedures
• Discuss the potential complications
• Discuss the procedure to be taken following a needle stick injury
• Demonstrate an understanding of the correct documentation process, and how to report concerns.
