IOSH Working Safely
What is it?
IOSH Working Safely is a Health and Safety course for the ordinary worker accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. The course combines a common sense approach with an understandable explanation of the legal and moral responsibilities of both employers and employees. It aims to give workers an understanding of why everyone has a duty to ensure that they work safely and how they can assist in ensuring that the workplace is as safe as is reasonably practicable.
Who is it for?
The course is for every worker as it combines an interesting interactive approach with a sound common sense approach to health and safety.
Why should I go on it?
All employees need to understand that they have a responsibility to work in a safe manner to ensure their own safety and that of everyone else. There is also a need to address the “it won’t happen to me” attitude. Finally everyone needs to accept that the work place can never be risk free, but through suitable assessment, sensible controls and safe systems of work these risks can be controlled to a reasonable level. This course will not only assist with this understanding but will also show that the organisation has a genuine commitment to health and safety, both to staff and to the enforcement agencies.
Where is it?
This course can be run at your premises or at any convenient venue, a local hotel for example. The flexibility of our organisation means that we can run this course where you need it.
When is it?
The course runs for a single day, we have run single courses for organisations or a series of courses over a number of weeks, if courses are available places can be found for one or two employees at a time. This means that we can normally organise a course to fit your organisation's schedule. We run it when you need it.
How is it done?
The course is broken down into five modules spread over a single day. A variety of teaching methods (lectures, discussions, practical exercises etc.) means that the course is varied and kept interesting. It is assessed by means of a short multiple choice assessment and a hazard spotting exercise.
