Course program
Designed for: Managers and health and safety practitioners progressing to the NEBOSH National Diploma. Satisfies entry requirements for application to Tech IOSH* or equivalent awards. Many people take the NEBOSH National General Certificate as a first step in a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study, such as the NEBOSH National Diploma.
Outline: This highly recommended, entry level course is based on two, one week study periods (Units NGC1 and NGC2). This very effective format ensures delegates retain knowledge from each element and this enables them to attain higher results. Work is set between study periods to re-enforce learning and development. Individual Personal Development Questionnaires (PDQ's) are designed to keep personal learning time manageable. Mock assessments (written and practical) are used throughout the course and with individual feedback offered to students to aid their development.
Assessment is by two written examinations (one for each of the Units NGC1 and NGC2) and a workplace-based practical assignment (Unit NGC3). A mock practice practical assessment is provided for students to attempt between the two study periods, conducted in the students own workplace. Students find this a useful learning step which helps reduce concern regarding this part of the assessment. Their practice practical assessment is critiqued by the tutor and group feedback is provided.
