Course program
Course review:
This course incorporates both the PTLLS 5 day course as well as the PTLLS is the first step for anyone wishing to be a qualified teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector (also known as the Post Compulsory Education & Training Sector, or PCET for short). This course provides the essential skills to get started in the profession.
It will also suit anyone wishing to develop an understanding of how to facilitate teaching and learning in a variety of contexts.
PTLLS is mandatory for those wishing to enter teaching in the regulated LLS in England. It is widely recognised as the standard for those beginning to teach in the non regulated sector in England, as well as in other nations.
What will it entail?
By the end of the course you will have:
Explored your own roles and responsibilities as a teacher Practised creative and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning Developed lesson plans and resources Demonstrated the use of different assessment methods Had a stimulating, challenging and enjoyable experience!
New Assessor Award/Certificate
Aimed at:
Learners from age 19 with sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning
and assessment.
The Level 3 Assessor Qualifications have been developed by Lifelong Learning UK and are the new QCF replacement for the A1 and A2 qualifications. The new qualifications for assessors introduce new dimensions to the assessment of knowledge when compared to the previous A1 Award and, the new qualifications offer more flexibility in terms of allowing assessment of candidates in a variety of learning environments.
There are now four Assessor Qualifications which encourage progression, for instance the first Award is aimed at those who intend to gain an understanding of Assessing rather than practice as an Assessor.
The new Assessor qualification is now broken down into 3 units (which each carry credits) and, depending on the combination of units (and therefore number of credits gained) offers you the opportunity of gaining either an Award (9 credits) or a Certificate in Assessing (15 credits).
Qualifications Summary
Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment is intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of assessment without any requirement to practice as assessors (3 credits)
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is intended for assessors who access occupational competence in an individual’s work environment (9 credits)
Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (e.g. a workshop / classroom / other training environment) (9 credits)
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work
environment (e.g. a workshop / classroom / other training environment) (15 credits)
You will be expected to attend taught sessions, during which the qualifications and how to meet criteria will be explained. All underpinning knowledge will be given during these taught
sessions, but it is expected that you will undertake individual learning outside of these timetabled sessions.
