Course Content

The qualification is a 4 Unit Award of 120 hrs guided learning, divided into pre-course work comprising of 8 question based written assignments and tutor led classroom sessions.
•Unit 5 Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning
•Unit 6 Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning
•Unit 7 Principles of assessment in lifelong learning
•Unit 8 Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning

Candidates will also need to deliver a micro-teach session of 30 minutes.

Delivery

The course is blended with pre-course self-study and classroom sessions, (with associated tutor and peer group feedback) and developmental activities.

The qualification is designed to enable candidates to
1.adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching/training and tutoring
2.reflect on their own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, and areas for development
3.identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation
4.develop communication and inter-personal skills
5.develop an awareness of their professional role and responsibilities.

How is the certificate achieved?

A certificate is achieved by the assessment of your ability to carry out a series of tasks (assessment criteria) and to ascertain your competence in those particular areas.

You must successfully complete both theory and practical assignments for all units. Within your study pack, there are the Theory & Practical Assignments from each unit that make up the Award.

Assessments and assignments are mandatory and alternatives cannot be accepted. All work presented by the candidate must be either word-processed or legibly hand written

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed using the following methods:
1.Natural observation (you being watched whilst carrying out a certain task)
2.Documentary evidence (written work prepared by you during the course).
3.Historic Evidence (written work prepared by you prior to the course and the evidence you collect to prove your level of competence).

What do I do with the evidence I have gathered?

All evidence that you gather should be entered into a portfolio. The portfolio should be indexed and the evidence should be clearly marked to show which particular task it relates to. Some of the evidence you will gather will cover more than one task and should be indexed and marked accordingly.

What qualifications or experience do I need to register for the award?

You will not require any qualifications, however some experience in a training environment will be advantageous. Don’t worry too much if you are unable to take advantage of the training experience of others within your company, as you will be taught the essentials of being a trainer within the course.
