Under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, anyone authorising the sale by retail or the supply of alcohol will have to hold a personal licence. In order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must by law hold a licensing qualification which is:
Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) accredited, and
Government approved
The SQA Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
