Course program
STONE CARVING Intuitive carving with Welsh sculptor Perryn Butler. Who will guide you to make a wonderful carving to take away with you. Perryn has a very laid back style of instruction which guarantees that she will interact with each person individually to find out who you are and what you would like to express.. She will help you develop your ideas artistically and give you a thorough grounding in safety, stone tools and methods of carving suitable for your level of experience.If you are stuck for ideas there will be plenty of books to look at and examples from previous workshops.
10am start- introduction to types of stone, health and safety and tool skills.
11.am Coffee and discussion about what to make or show your drawings, look at ideas. Experienced carvers make a start while beginners are assisted in how to begin. Advice and instruction for
everybody, what tools to use how to get the best out of the stone and your idea and continue carving until lunchtime.
Lunch- There is a really nice restaurant at the art centre which you can visit, or you could bring a packed lunch.
Afternoon-until 4pm Carry on carving. Perryn will get to know you individually to ensure that you enjoy the course and find out in detail, what you would like to achieve.
Over the three days you will learn enough technique to carry on carving at home, if you wish. If you find you love doing it, extra days are possible subject to availability.
If you would like to extend your holiday, Pembrokeshire is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Contact Haverfordwest Tourist Information for places to stay. The centre is 8 miles from there and seven miles from Fishguard.
